Living Clay

Living Clay

for three bassoons (2006), 5’30”

Performed at CCM, University of Cincinnati Feb. 2011 and May 2012 and at Indiana University, Oct. 2007.

Program note:

The title of this piece refers to the music’s organic nature—each new idea grows out of the last—and to the malleable quality of the musical materials. The music moves flexibly between passages that are to some extent static (though they have an active, shimmering surface texture) and passages of quick movement.
